Mathias, William

(1 November 1934, Whitland, Carmarthenshire, Wales–29 July 1992, Menai Bridge, Anglesey)
In the latter half of his career, he composed a significant number of sacred works for chorus: psalm settings, cantatas, canticles, and anthems, sometimes employing non-canonical texts, such as his large Lux Aeterna (1982), a kind of Requiem troped with writings from St. John of the Cross.
